A new museum has opened in the middle of the Egyptian desert, focusing on prior marine life in the region, and also placing an emphasis on the impacts of climate change. The museum was designed to be eco-friendly, and is powered via renewable energy. This video provides a tour of the museum, and highlights the various fossils on site. There are also several interviews with the museum’s head architect.
Jonathan Ablett, Curator of Mollusks for the Natural History Museum in London, discusses how the museum received an intact giant squid specimen measuring over 8 meters in length. Ablett goes on to explain the challenges of preserving such a large specimen, and some of the sights and smells associated with the giant squid.
